John, I have been diagnosed as having IBS, irritable bowel Syndrome. It seems
to me that this is one of those "umbrella ' terms that are used when no one can
really come up with an explanation that fits all cases. Kind of like ADHD,
Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder. I think such terminology has a
certain usefulness , since without some kind of a title, how are we going to
refer to a bunch of symptoms that have some similarities, but also wide
variations.
My IBS symptoms are almost completely right sided, leading my doctor to
think that they may be due to adhesions from my three abdominal surgeries. I
am inclined to agree with him to some extent.
On Monday I saw another surgeon whose practice involves the colon surgery
that has been suggested. This man, like the first surgeon I saw, prefers to
try other treatments first. So he provided me with a different plan of
procedure to get my colon moving, than that of the first surgeon I saw. Note,
that both men are not quick to slice me up as someone else said.. That is only
a last resort. This second surgeon's directions will be easier to follow and
involve somewhat different medications than the first one.
I am also working with a naturopath who uses something called an Ondamed
machine to locate areasof trouble in a person's body. I am using 10
preparations designed to bolster my body's immune system, and correct some
suspected problems. If you google Ondamed, you will find out more about that.

Not only does IRS vary, but causes are thought to be 'unclear'.> It is an
