Nancy, I only have one plant. Ididn't know I needed more. I understand that zuchini grow like crazy and how many can I eat in one summer all by myself. Thanks. Faith
I don't personally find zucchini to be that prolific. I've had better success with white patty pan squash but they are tricky to peel when they get too big as many of my squash do. If you have a close neighbor with squash you may be all right but if not you need a second plant, any summer squash will do unless you want to save seed. I personally like yellow crooknecks, they have a totally delectable buttery nutty taste you wouldn't believe if home-grown. Squash keep producing if you keep them picked but if I let them get overgrown sometimes the bush just shuts down and stops producing. I like to have a lot of plants for that reason, and because I just eat what I grow all summer breakfast, lunch and dinner.
