I'm happy for you but it's too cold here for okra so I have given up
on it, though I love it having grown up in the south and eaten it from
very early childhood. My first female squash flowers just bloomed,
and not a bean flower in sight yet. Sigh. This has been the coldest
June on record since 1917 and all the bush fruits are behind schedule.
Well, enjoy those okra. Sniff. At least I can buy them frozen now in
the grocery store.

I second that! Eat some for me too. The frozen ones are a poor second,
but are ok for okra withdrawl. We have grown some up here, but only in
the warm years have we gotten any. They were worth it, of course. There
used to be an old couple from the South that had some at the Farmer's
Market in August. It was a real treat when my husband would come home
from work toting a bag of fresh okra on market day.
My favorite recipe is to mix some spices, cut a little slice in the
side and stuff it in, then fry them up. Aaaah.
Glad your garden is going well.
