I don't personally find zucchini to be that prolific. I've had better
success with white patty pan squash but they are tricky to peel when they
get too big as many of my squash do. If you have a close neighbor with
squash you may be all right but if not you need a second plant, any summer
squash will do unless you want to save seed. I personally like yellow
crooknecks, they have a totally delectable buttery nutty taste you
wouldn't believe if home-grown. Squash keep producing if you keep them
picked but if I let them get overgrown sometimes the bush just shuts down
and stops producing. I like to have a lot of plants for that reason, and
because I just eat what I grow all summer breakfast, lunch and dinner.
