Yes Bernard, I got great results just using tap water *not* filtering it through a Brita first, and not using the filters that come with it. The CS I make is clear and stable and the only reason I want to get a Hanna water tester is because I am slightly anal about things like this and do like to be more precise! There is no other reason than that, and it wont' make the slightest difference to the CS I am making. dee
