In addition I should have mentioned that it also depends on its country of origin, several years ago there was a big problem with sodium bicarb coming out of China that contained excessive amounts of heavy metals. It can be mined, and or processed chemically to make it commercially viable, there are 6 different grades, the grades uses vary according to the desired application. A lot depends on how it is processed, and what it is processed with that will determine the purity of the final product.
