Don't get too wrapped up in the fine points. Most of us are far beyond the if it works stage, and are discussing what works best. For the beginner it doesn't matter if the particles or the ions in home made CS is what is most effective, since it will contain both. I think everyone here agrees that it does wonders for killing pathogens of all types, is safe and effective. Everything is fine points of discussion on how to make a really good CS even better. It is almost like a discussion of if a match is a lighter is better for lighting a fire. Both work very well, and there are points in favor of each for different circumstance.
