>Dear list, Sharon.

I've been lurking on the sliver list for about 5 years now. I love
the discussions and debates and mighty fine advice.

I've been reading all the advice you have been receiving on your
daughters' bladder infection. Every thing I've read so far can be
used after the infection has occurred. My concern is prevention.

You,(Sharon), said your daughter has had this recurring infection
since she was 3. Could this be at the time she was being potty
trained? Could she possibly be wiping her bottom from the back to the
front? It makes all the difference in the world with a female.

No- we have been over that ( and over it, and over it. it is of course the first thing any good doctor brings up as well. But thanks! ) She potty trained at 18 months. Then we moved back to the US and we had to do it all again ( they say the most recently learned skill is the first to go when a traumatic event occurs in the life of a child. That is sooo true.) We have her using the wipes because it makes it easier for her to get herself clean after a BM. I use the "Natural" ones so she does not have a long list of petrochemicals clinging to her butt. 7th generation.
Anyhoo,
Many thanks to all who have responded. This started out as someone elses's thread, and I jumped in to say what we've done. Thanks Marshall, for the comforting protrayal of the common tests. I knew the ultrasound was no biggie, but the other one sounded not so nice for a sensitive three year old. Now that she is six and can understand it a bit better I am willing to g have the tests.

Even a very minute portion of fecal matter reaching her front area
can contaminate her and cause infection. With a female, it is
always... wipe from the front to the back.

Just my observations.

Love Always, Deborah

Read somewhere that recurrent bladder infections are related to
overgrowth of pathogens in the colon, especially in the lower part.
So dealing with the colon problem must be done in order to
successfully address the bladder problem. Not sure about where I
read this but it may have been www.nutriteam.com large site have fun. pj
