I repeat: The water may be distilled but how clean are the plastic containers?

I used to buy spring water in plastic jugs to drink. I found that often there
was a significant
plastic taste to the water indicating that some chemical or plasticizer from
the plastic had
gotten into the water. Also noticed this buying fill-your-own reverse osmosis
water from the
grocery store. If the jugs were rinsed first, there was no plastic taste.
Maybe this is what
is happening to the distilled water.
