I don't see any discrepancy.  Silver nitrate when dissolved in water splits
up into silver ions and nitrate radical ions.  So they are correct (as I
would expect in a peer reviewed paper), the only problem is that they could
have difficulty removing any of the effect of the nitrate radical ions from
the tests.

That is a very interesting article.
