  Marshall, silver nitrate is highly corrosive to human tissue. Silver
  ions have no such effect. So a study on silver nitrate  doesn't tell
  anything about how the ions kill bacteria.

  The British  Columbia Water Quality study was very  specific  on the
  action of silver ions on bacteria. I posted a quote earlier.  It was
  completely different from Qunito's Silver nitrate article.
