Verizon in my area requires SMTP Authentication for all outbound email.

So that puts me back to the same state I am in with my SIMS server,
requiring a method of authentication that my email client, nor any of my
custom email software, supports.

Most likely, I will end up just using my own software to add SMTP
Authentication to my email clients... I was just trying to avoid that if
there was a nice solution already available in SIMS.
