This response means that the phone sent a REGISTER message containing a
"Require: com.nortelnetworks.firewall" header. (Or perhaps a "Proxy-Require:
com.nortelnetworks.firewall" header; I can't tell since you didn't include the
REGISTER message.) Since that "option tag" is proprietary to Nortel, sipX
doesn't handle it and so must reject the request with a 420 response.

It's unlikely that the phone can only function using this option tag, as that
would make the potential market for it very small. I strongly suspect that the
header is included because some specific feature of the phone has been
configured "on". The trouble is to determine how to turn it off.

One thing to try is to turn off any "NAT support" options in the phone --
sipXecs does NAT compensation for the phone, and for that to work correctly,
the phone should not be trying to do it also.

Another thing to look for is any item in the configuration menus that resembles
"nortelnetworks" and "firewall".

Perhaps your phone vendor can help.
