Its Yuk!
And they have added 'extensions' at the start of the files'. latex won't
run LyX files.
If you make some nicely laid out LaTeX file and import into LyX it
stuffs it up and it does not support all the power of LaTeX.
It tries to be 1/2 way between Word and laTeX.

How can it "feel" like LaTeX when its a WYSIWYG ?
The "feel" of LaTeXing is flying with your favorite text editor (vi,
gvim, emacs) and churing out beautiful docs. No more slow word
processors - just markup the text.
