What are you using PPTP for your backhaul for?? Is it ADSL or something?!?!?
Scott -----Original Message----- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of Lancaster Networks Sent: Thursday, July 17, 2003 1:21 PM To: phantam Subject: Re[4]: [smartBridges] AirPointPRO TOTAL It's a brand new 300 foot tower in the middle of suburbia that we have, so no problems with hills, its LOS to a huge amount of residential neighborhoods and also businesses. I plan on using this as my hub for backbone and possibly putting some remote sites in lower areas for concentrated coverage. Despite the few things I've seen on this list about failure, I think I'm still going to invest in Smartbridge as of now, as they seem to offer the best slew of features (POE, Tough enclosures, etc) for the money. Don't get me wrong, I'm not going to skimp on the money part, but I don't want to spend more than I'll make in 3 years. The ISP we are using for data pipes uses PPTP, does anyone see any problems using PPTP for authentication over the wireless? I picture using a subscriber unit with a regular ethernet router that will authenticate using PPTP and all should be good to get back to the PPTP server at the ISP's head-end.
