Paul and Peter, thanks for your insights and the links provided! Will 
definitely keep that in mind to adjust this after I get past my current issue.

In order to narrow done my problem, I tried different USB Keys and HDD. 
However, no progress there.

Also, as suggested here

I took a look at the log files. But a log regarding the filesystem does not 
exist yet.
