Nick,

Save a Version (or Command S) seems to produce the desired effect.

I just created three single page files in Word, ŒPrinted¹ each one to PDF
(Save as PDF).

I then opened one file in Preview and added the other two as described in my
previous message.

ŒSave a Version¹ produces a file with the file name of the original file
which includes the three separate documents added together into one PDF
file.

Thanks for that tip Paul but 10 minutes of playing with 2 separate pdfs I
have failed to create one combined pdf. I can drag and drop (icon of 2nd
pdf) into sidebar but then I don't have the option to Save As only Save a
Version or Duplicate (which reverts the pdf to just a single page). So a bit
foxed at the moment.
