You don't have to actually pay them. You give them extra chores to work off the fine. And yes, I pay my kids for chores, I call it an allowance. If they don't do them, they don't get their allowance. If they do extra, they get extra. If they spend it all and need more money then tough luck. They are learning how to work to earn money. I don't really have the money myself to just give to them, but I figure doing things around the house helps me and helps them earn money.

you pay your kids for chores?  we  dont   we dont have the money too. and im not working a kid for years to pay off an accident

 
If the kid gets away with stuff like this at 8 and is never taught any differently, then he will assume he can still get away with it at 19. 


oh yeah im sure an 8 yr old who didnt yield the right of way is sitting there plotting out crimes for when he gets older cuz he got away with it     maybe he'll turn without using his signal   lol
