yeah, too bad your in Chicago,

I'm in So-Cal, and down here the last saturday of the month, they heave
these exclusive electronics/computer/computerparts swap meet on the TRW
/Northrop parking lot in El Segundo.

you can pick up a good used laptop there for dirt cheap, I'm talking
$250-$300 range. a lot of it is surplus equipment, it's the local ham-radio
group that sponsors it.

so you might check the chicago area to see if the have something similar,
the good part is a lot of used laptops come with the OS and Office already,
but watch out for key loggers, spyware or trojans pre-loaded on it, and
change the computer name

being also a Cisco guy, I needed a laptop with a serial port laptop to hook
up to cisco devices using their Aux port connection,

So a co-worker just bought a laptop from Dell and he specified w a serial
port, and they put it in for him at no extra charge.

End
