I haven't seen numbers for Vonage specifically, but regular telephone uses
less than 64k per voice channel.

VOIP has the capacity to be lower using various compression techniques
including empty-space compression (the dead air in between words.)

Check out this site for links to more on bandwidth calculations:
http://www.voip-info.org/wiki-Bandwidth+consumption

That said, VOIP running over a DSL line should have minimal bandwidth
impact. The issues you probably heard about tend to be application level
problems, not bandwidth consumption. For example, some P2P apps can cause
problems with VOIP, possibly from overutilization and poor traffic
management.

What's the bandwidth usage on a VoIP phone call? I heard that it noticeably
slows down your broadband connection.
