While the walls are open, pull Ethernet cable throughout the house and
into the attic. You may want coax for TV as well.

For sharing with neighbors, you may find that the omni antennas pick up
too much interference to be effective, this will of course depend on your
neighborhood. Where I live there are many AP's and 2.4GHz cordless phones
and an omni would receive this interference 360 degrees around it. Using
multiple AP's and directional panel antennas will reduce the interference
that the antennas receive and may eliminate the need for an amp.

Perhaps start out with an omni, with the idea that you may need to change
antennas as more and more of your neighbors install 2.4GHz devices.
