Although some wish to call it a cult, the church of scientology is considered a religion by a great many people apparently. At least according to google.

Look, scientologists calling scientology a religion doesn't make it so. The word "religion" has a definition somewhere. Scientology is not recognized as a religion.

1 a) belief in a divine or superhuman power or powers to be obeyed and worshiped as the creator(s) and ruler(s) of the universe b) expression of such a belief in conduct and ritual 2 a) any specific system of belief and worship, often involving a code of ethics and a philosophy !the Christian religion, the Buddhist religion, etc." b) any system of beliefs, practices, ethical values, etc. resembling, suggestive of, or likened to such a system !humanism as a religion"

Neither of these definitions seem to require a deity. #1 kind of does, but not necessarily. I guess the first one implies that there has to be a ruler of the universe.
