Leon,
I'll make a post so that all here can benefit when I find a suitable
fast processor. One issue with speed is the package: real fast
processors tend to be BGA. I was against a particular DDC at a place I
worked specifically because of that package, or maybe it was more the
personality of the guy who had the idea... 

A fun thing about the embedded PowerPC would be closeness to my Mac  .
