Leon,
GCC will compile for Blackfin? I haven't yet learnt on what to tell
the GCC compiler to compile for other than the processor GCC is
running on. Do I have to download extra packages with a lot of
tinkering, or just do an easy apt-get?
I used the ADI 21065 floating point SHARC DSP back in 2001 for FM
demodulation at around 280ksps. Yep, ADI is expensive to develop. The
hardware emulator was 3k$, software proably 1.5k$ and then I got a
$300 ADI EZ-KIT because the Bittware 2k$ board kept crashing with the
emulator. On the other hand, I really enjoyed the architecture with
the 40bit instruction word and 4 parallel execution units. The
assembly was very clean and efficient too.
I'll check up the Blackfin.
Thanks,
Frank
