mentioned some hacks in the past on this list to get this cached with
pointclouds.

I have a mesh made with ICE topo that 'grows' every frame. The scene now is
very heavy with only this in and doing new stuff in it like add curves or
pointclouds etc leads to 5 minute delay whilst Softimage 'does something'
its most annoying. plus I need to emit particles from this object which at
the moment just freezes Softimage and a ctrl alt del is necessary.  Also I
need to eventually send this geometry to the rendering scene for the farm
and keeping it 'live' is not a way to go as there is some custom ICE trees
used to make it.

So, being able to cache geometry with changing polygon count is desired
right now :)   can try a cache topo - recreate topo as an option for sure.
