Why don't you compress using AE? I have never even tried to add another step
to my AE renders. I oniy use H,256 for client approvals since MP4's play
well
both on PC and MAC. I have never heard any complaints from my clients, and
the file are nice and small with great quality.

My final renders, I use DVCPRO 100 codec (QuickTime) right out of AE,
again, with no issues.

What do you gain by encoding separately in AME or something else?

Just curious.
