Interesting.

Maurice says more than once that Softimage was placed onto a 'continue and 
maintain' program by virtue of being outsourced to Singapore.  Development 
would be continued but no more investment.  That happened 2 years ago, with the 
decision likely happening much earlier based on past posts from various people 
at AD because it takes time to find an outsource company, get them up to speed, 
transition development, etc...

The interesting part is in a later question when the moderator posts the link 
of Chris V saying the future of Softimage and 3DSMax will continue.  Maurice 
says that was true at the time.  The problem is the timelines do not line up.  
Chris's statements were made well after the outsourcing to Singapore.  Both 
people cannot be right.

So to answer the recurring question - why should anybody trust Autodesk?  I 
cannot answer that, I'll only say this is hard evidence why they shouldn't.
