"Perhaps we should do this together. You already know the players
involved. You could play the 'good cop' leaving the bad cop to be played by
the annoyed, arrogant, JAG/IG goon- aka me. That is if you don't have any
objections."

"I would not be opposed to that as long as you realize that I will be
learning as I go," replied Dais with a smile. "It is my understanding
that we will be working with the Ambassador's Chief of Staff, Rivik Carlo.
I would be happy to take you over to meet with him when you are ready."

With a sly smile Joe replies, "It takes some learning to play a convincing
'bad' cop. Good cop is easy. There are just a few things to
keep in mind. 1- I don't mean everything that I say when playing bad cop,
but will do what I say even if I don't mean it to keep up the charade. I
tend to over the top quite often, all you have to do is play the peace
maker. Just like you did at customs. 2- If it looks like I am going to hit
them separate us. If it looks like I will *really* hit one of them, just
get out of the way. However, I doubt it will come to that. and 3- the
Bajoran Ambassador and his lackeys are dirty, all the way. They would sell
their own mothers to get what they wanted, and will burry us if we are not
watchful. Thus good cop- bad cop works so well. Any questions?"

Dais started to get the impression that this guy did not play by the
letter of the law. This could work for a situation as sticky as this one,
or it would just be the fuel for the already large fire.

It was surprising to hear a Starfleet officer speak in such a way. Dais had
to admit that it did seem to fit the situation well. "I believe that I can
handle this. I am sure that I can learn to cover things as we go."
