The ambassadors' security details each followed one Venasian escort out to
the respective rooms. The facility, if not up and running technologically,
was definitely designed to please the senses. The ambassadors were led past
several open courtyards and reflection pools, nice, open areas to sit, and
everywhere there were signs of water. At least the ambassadors would find
it fairly comfortable here, even if politics were tense right now...

Golan studdied the environment.  It was pleasant if not luxurious.  He could survive here.  His tastes tended to run spartan, and this appealed to that part of his nature.

Ambassador Ra'aj accepted their location.  It was as it had been promised: a work in project.  She had to admit that she was surprised to see that the government did not have anything better for visiting dignitaries.  While there had recently been a coup, there had been very little along the lines of fighting, particularly on the Venasian homeworld.  She was willing to give the regime the benefit of the doubt until things proved otherwise.

Valtris was another story.  She was offended at the veQqach the Venasians had provided them.  She was tempted to go down to the Secretaries office and give her a lesson about the proper way to received representatives of foreign governments.  Her displeasure was clearly shown with a low growl that was emanating from her.

Golan turned toward her.  "Is there a problem Ambassador Valtris?"

Valtis was not quite sure how to respond at first.  Klingons were noted for their willingness to live in harsh conditions.  That said, it did not mean that they necessarily preferred it.  "I am not sure that I appreciate how we have been treated.  We have been put off by the official representing the Venasian government.  We have been placed in what could be considered tenament housing.  I have concerns that we are not going to get anything out of this mission."

Golan nodded.  "I understand your concerns, Valtris.  It has been a long journey.  Perhaps we should settle into our quarters and get comfortable.  We can meet in 2 hours to discuss our options and plans to deal with the situation at that time."  He glanced toward the other diplomats for their opinions.

Ra'aj nodded in agreement.

"That would be acceptable," replied Valtris as she unclenched her fists.  It seemed that Cardassians were not all worms.  She was starting to get a bit of respect for this Dulath.
