>A few minutes later, Serana walked into Sickbay and found Garibaldi.  "Status," she said crisply to Lucas.

>Lucas relayed the readings and treatments given thus far.  He was shot twice- once int he back and another in the center of his chest.  He was no longer in shock, although he arrived heading deep into shock.  The wounds were sealed by the blast, so there was not much in the form of bleeding.  Although, there was some internal bleeding that if not addressed soon would cause serious problems.  His blood pressure was low, but stable.  It had been decreasing ever since he was stabilized.  His heart rate was similar- lowering and beating with less strength.  Garibaldi had been given fluids and a dose of epi in triage.

"All right, Lucas," Serana said, lowering herself into a mobile chair to save her strength, "You're going to have to do most of the actual work.  I'll direct you."

>Before anything further could be done, the bio-bed started to scream.  Marcus Garibaldi was having a heart attack.

The room erupted into activity.  This was something the nurses knew how to handle.  One grabbed the defib and passed it to a very pale Lucas, who tried to follow Serana's instructions as best he could.  (ooc: sorry to those doctors out there; I don't really know what the procedure for helping a heart attack victim is, so I'm fudging it.)  Lucas wavered, his hands shaking, and started to get a glazed look about him.   Another nurse prepared to inject the Admiral with a stabilizer, looking askance at Serana for the go-ahead.  Lucas seemed to be fascinated by that, in a bemused way.

"Lucas!" Serana's voice cut through his trembling, "You can do this, you went through the training at medical school.  Just stay with me."

Lucas swallowed and nodded, steadying his hands.  One of the nurses mopped sweat off his brow.

"I swear, Garibaldi, if I get you through this, you're going to owe me big time," Serana muttered, "Okay, now adjust the setting to the defib.  Place it on his chest, in position.... that's right.  Is it reading that it's directly above his heart?  Look at the screen... Yes?  Now activate it."

He did, and it sent a stimulant directly into the Admiral's heart.  The nurses all turned to the monitor anxiously...

The first attempt failed, but an increase in power with the second jolt did the trick.  His heart restarted and stabilized into a strong healthy rythm.  Blood pressure improved a bit as well.  Perhaps the internal bleeding was proving to more of a threat to Garibaldi's life than previously thought.
