Lucas examined the image. "Brachial artery?"
"Very good. It's not a big rupture, but it's bleeding steadily, in a bad place. Let's get it patched up."
Lucas was more comfortable with this procedure, as he did similar procedures in the lab. He got the proper instruments and, with Serana's calm guidance, began repairing the artery. The nurses seemed more at ease around him now that he was calmer.
>The brachial artery was repaired in no time, but there was still more to do. One of his kindeys failing, and it would have to be treated. Luckily it was a medical procedure, not a surgical one. Garibaldi's condition was improving, but he was still unconscious. Time for the medication to wear off and for the effects of going into shock to dissapate should take care of that. However, some pain management would be required for the next day or so. He would pull through.
(ooc: hey wait a minute, didn't they *grow* someone a new kidney in ST IV?)
{OOC:Yup. Bones gave the old lady a couple of pills, and her Kidney was back in business. Good pick up on the odd reference. CS}
Serana examined the kidney from her seat. "It may not be worth saving. We should schedule him to have it removed and start growing a new one from the cells."
Lucas nodded. "Okay. He's okay for right now, though?"
"Looks like it. I'll monitor him for a bit. Would you do me a favor and go stay with Ceran? And take a shower while you're there. Your sweat tastes rank."
Lucas nodded again. "Thanks, Doc."
After he left, Serana sat by Garibaldi catching up on some journal articles.
Garibaldi rested, silently for a while. His strength slowly returning, despite the kidney problem. Nurses cleaned him up a bit, wiping his arms and face with a wet cloth, and gave him a couple of hyposprays to make him comfortable.
Eventually he started to move a bit, grogy and lacking fine motor control. He was starting to regain consciousness, but the pain killers and sedatives were not completely out of his system. Soon he would be awake and able to communicate...
