>The reply came back, requesting a Federation escort.  While it seemed evident that Starfleet vessels wouldn't fire on the ambassador's ship, a rogue citizen on the fringes of Federation might be liable to take a well-meaning pot-shot at the ship, causing all manner of an intergalactic incident...

>The USS Atlantis and USS Carey were dispatched to escort the Venasian convoy to Spacedock.

When the ships arrived in orbit around Pacifica, the new ambassador was already on board her ship.  The captain of the Venasian diplomatic ship (the "Waverunner") hailed them.  He was a veteran Venasian military man; though he looked as youthful as any other Venasian with their strange aging patterns, he had two prominent battle scars on his face which made him appear worn.  Like all Venasians, he was impeccably gracious.  "Gentle tides, Captains.  I am the Thro'la of the ambassador's transport, Jonaseira T'landran.  Your equivalent rank is Captain.  Thank you for agreeing to escort us through Federation space."   Unlike the diplomats such as Secretary V'nquera, the Thro'la seemed quite straight-forward and business-like, much like most military officers. "Shall we get underway?  The new T'remea is looking forward to her new position."

"Gentle tides, Thro'la T'landran.  I am Captain James Moore of the USS Carey, and your escort leader.  When we break orbit, please take up position on my starbord side.  The Atlantis will be on point.", came the reply.

"I would also like to extend an invitation for the T'remea and staff to join us for dinner."
