Bedru's expression never changed, but she knew there was only one action she
could take.
"Sir, any error in effectively relaying the Federation's stance on the Prime
Directive is not the ambassador's alone. I should have addressed this as
well."
Watson waited for a response.
"Very well then. Both of you may consider yourselves on notice that you are not to
interfere with an interal matter under Cardassian jurisdiction. Do not take further
action in the Golan Dulath matter until the the reports from the Ferengi can be
confirmed and the the note from the former ambassador is properly authenticated. The
trip may continue as planned, but do not commit the Federation or Starfleet until we
can verify the information that was given to you. I suggest, Mr. Ambassador, that you
have somone get what you have to intell, and soon." Lasiter was still unhappy, but he
was not angry. Just slightly more than unpleased.
