Tom,
Spectra code is CF code, so it will continue to be supported under
existing support agreements (if you have one). We are a Gold Support
customer and will be continuing with the product and will help to grow it
in any way that we can. I don't understand the attitude of your company,
with CF support in mind. Let me ask you a question. Have you ever opened a
support incident with Spectra? Personally, in the 3 years I've been using
it, I have never opened one Spectra specific ticket.
I made my response of thanks directly to Tim Buntel, not to the list. Our
plans are to help grow the codebase and continue with it indefinitely, as
we are committed to CF as a platform, and Spectra as our CMS framework.
For people who are from CF shops, but haven't purchased a CMS yet, it will
be a great framework to get started. Perhaps with some marketing push from
MM and a good developer community, Spectra can be reborn again anew.

Subject: Spectra, the Final Frontier
Hello all. I was surprised by the relative lack of response in regard to
Tim Buntel's announcement of Spectra going open source. It was what I'd
hoped for as a "final" fate for the product. However, I will admit my own
company will not use a product that is not supported by a vendor. So that
has eliminated Spectra as a long-term option (at least in my day job).
I'm interested to see what any of us remnant Spectra developers will do
now. I would expect there is potential for Spectra to grow if it still
has its good points. What from Spectra do you plan to or consider worth
carrying on? Anything?
Briscoe
