NFPA 101 requires quick-response or residential sprinklers in health care facilities and residential occupancies due to life safety concerns. The intent appear to be to deliver water quickly.
A dry pipe system has a built-in time delay, and using quick-response dry pendent sprinklers doesn't eliminate the delay in getting water to the fire area...so a dry system with QR dry pendent sprinklers might not meet the life safety intent in a nursing home. Ask the sprinkler manufacturer if his QR dry pendent sprinkler can be used to satisfy the NFPA 101 requirement.
