The chances of getting eaten by a lion while walking down Main St are one in a billion- But once is enough.
While what Garth says makes sense, and is the basis for #13d and #13R codes, there are peculiar applications where the data is worth so much, you can't afford to even think about having damage to it. Mirrored hard drives and physical separation of redundant storage are the solutions, not omitting sprinklers. I would certainly hope that if the data is that valuable, its offsite, too. In a sprinklered building:) (what are the chances that two sprinklered places would have leaks same day?) We take our data offsite physically at night, redundant removable hard drive from a sprinklered place to a sprinklered place. Take the necessary steps to ensure you don't lose what you can't afford to lose. Payroll is in the server, someone will take it with them during egress if there's a fire here during the day (Richard, you're closest and less excitable!). Sure they will- it's in the procedure manual. In the school I'd suggest wet concealed heads -just cut your drops a little shorter. In the investment house, clean agent, Preaction 200*F concealed heads backup. glc -----Original Message----- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of Garth W. In the past 10 years? I agree it should not be based solely on the costs of the installed system, but some kind of logic concerning the added value of the PA system based on known losses would seem appropriate. And I'm not sure I would consider total replacement of servers as the only course of remedy if they got wet.....submerged maybe.
