I spent one of those cents early this AM looking at your website, and forwarded the link to some AHJs and inspectors in the area that would benefit from the info there.
Wanted to thank you and note to AHJs and inspectors on the Forum that there's a lot of good stuff on Michael's website- Inspector 911- www.Codesavvyconsultants.com is how I got there. Thanks for helping the AHJs do a better job, not to mention the updates here. glc -----Original Message----- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of Michael O'Brian Sent: Tuesday, February 26, 2008 12:31 PM To: [email protected] Subject: RE: ICC Version of 13d George and Roland It is really the plumbing code and I don't know if the sprinkler boys and girls want to spend that much time on the committee for the small section. There was a floor amendment to clarify about 10 issues from what you printed off. Trust me the sprinkler groups are paying attention. 1. NFSA 2. IRC Fire Sprinkler Coalition 3. Tyco Reps 4. Local AHJ 5. Many consultants I know a AFSA rep was here for a little while although did not testify on RP3. Just won't be able to scare the heck outa ya with the TR6 afterward. Thom, tho, could with a minivan. You'll know where to find the peer group suite. Just wear PSU Blue to gain admission. Seriously, it does seem strange that the Committee does not have anyone from the sprinkler industry "proper"- I realize the code and fire officials are waging our war. There certainly are numerous #13, #13R and #13D committee members that could assist and give input based on years (a century?) of sprinkler code development. Could stop things like sticking dry sidewalls outside where the deflector distance is measured from a real cloud. I believe both Steve and my comments were directed at the industry, we both realize the trade associations are actively pursuing these things. That's why we pay dues to support AFSA's efforts to better the sprinkler industry. Keep pushing! glc -----Original Message----- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of Roland Huggins Sent: Tuesday, February 26, 2008 10:33 AM To: [email protected] Subject: Re: ICC Version of 13d Shame on you for making such a bad assumption without first inquiring about it (since it's not like we never talk) . It requires more than just asking to be on the committee, which we have. They have to open the door and let you in. We were on the IBC committee that dealt with chap 9 (Fire Protection systems) plus a few other chapters but even that was short term. Unlike the NFPA, once you get on, you don't stay on for an extended period of time. Roland PS: for penitence you can buy me a few rounds of Scotch at the convention (but it can't be any of that cheap 18 yr stuff).
