"Laser" infrared thermometers.

Here is a guide Fluke puts out on how to calculate how big an area you are
taking heat measurement from when when you use one of their products. If you
play with it a little once in the office or home you can see you want the
sensor below the laser to be right at the coupling or bearing. Otherwise you
are mostly getting the wall or floor temp.

Subject: RE: Fire Pump Testing NFPA 25 requirements

I have to agree both organizations do complement each other in some ways. I
really have to join, our local guy has stopped by and I've met him and they
do have a lot to offer. I'm not union but I do a ton of union work, I get
hired by the signatory shops and work alongside the union guys. I'm
friendly with about 75% of the local here (300 members) and they've tried to
sway me but it's just not in the cards for me. Good thing it's the weekend,
I think Steve would cut this thread. I would like to know how and what
parameters are being used for vibration analysis as it's something that I'd
like to know as it pertains to fire pump drivers. I also use a laser
infrared thermometer, a monarch like my laser tach and do a lot of laser
alignments for both coupling replacements and as #25 directs. I'd love to
know what's too much.

You pay your workers in Euros? Very progressive.
