I have a friend who claimed to have filled a small section of CPVC sprinkler pipe with water, capped it, threw it into the campfire, then went back to drinking. The following morning the pipe was intact amongst the ashes the next day. Could be a BS story, I don't know.

There is an issue of correct listing or not. This is under European standards, however fairly similar to NFPA 13. What I want to know: What is the actual risk of using plastic wet sprinkler pipe in a lowered ceiling space, given a listing as exposed plastic wet sprinkler pipe? Maybe no concerns? I read NFPA 13 Annex A6.3.6 on this and cannot really get my head around. Why is there a risk of removed ceiling tile when the pipework is elsewhere directly exposed to fire?
