Andrew,

   I recently had to replace the server/workstation's motherboard (which

discovered only yesterday that printing got borked somehow (test pages from
the cups admin web page print, but not checks from L123 or a document from
acroread), everything else is working. Today I get the printer working again
before anything else.

        However this is the reason I say a VM would be a great thing.  If my
printing quit that will cause a problem, also in the past as our government
likes to change taxes every few months, sometimes those simple changes cause
problems.

        Anyhow, I think the smartest thing I could so is just build up my
own VM, giving some thought to what distro is going to be the best, do a
manual install of SL or L123 and see how it plays out.  The beauty of the VM
is if you want more power, just get a bigger system and copy paste your
image...
