You also have to take into account new LMS versions default to play remote sources -5 dB softer ? And other affects I wonder how streaming services really do stuff ? It's is proven that under controlld circumstances humans can't spot a properly made 320kbps encoding from lossles . Anyone here participated in archimago's internet test of this knows ? But it can be some more variable at work on a streaming service ? Like som volume equalisation that is not transparent . It migth not even be the same master as your own file ,it migth be some horrid * mastered for iTunes * version it migth not even be 320 Kbps but some old encoding from the past if you taste is eclectic enough . It migth actually be interesting to test if streaming services do fail in sq even if the really should not ? And if so wtf is up then . It can be hard to do , even if you turn off LMS -5 dB trick on streaming sources and line up well known tracks and your own version using triodes spotify ( where you can turn off spotify's volume normalisation ) . Even then it can be hard to be sure you don't compare apples with oranges . And differences may only show up on some material depending on streaming services ? I have not done this with any scientific rigor ( it's virtually impossible ). My feel is that it can be different sometimes :/ I've got some spotify track being virtually identical on some occasions ? I suspects his is true most of the times ? But it's hard to either prove or disprove . My own conclusions is that this is not a matter of lossles vs lossy there something else at work that I can't quantify and that there is no substitute for your own files . If you,investigate the services that supply lossles I would not be surprised to find differences there too ? Do any off them controll the source material or do they just use some automated service for the labels to upload their stuff ?
