I'm using a Yamaha IDE CDRW in my 5000/300. I chose the IDE with the
hope that I could dub from CDs read on the internal SCSI CD-ROM to the
IDE CDRW with less bus contention than if both were on the SCSI bus. I
don't know if that's true!
BUT: consider if you wish to use Retrospect. They do support, and say
they do not plan to support, the Yamaha 8424 on the IDE bus. They do
support it on the SCSI bus.
BTW: if anybody has a hack which makes Retrospect functional with thus
drive, please let me know.
Tip -- maybe obvious, but handy: The PS/2 mouse input works fine.
Kensington PC input devices are much cheaper than their Mac ones. I use,
and like, their Orbit trackball. With TheMouse2B shareware I can use
both buttons. I like the right to be "click-and-hold", but your prefs
may vary.
