If I remember correctly, he is not asking for your OS9 copy ... and if the original StarMax CD were available through any other channel I would agree. Perhaps he should try contacting Motorola for an original CD but my guess is that they will not have one to give to him. In that case, he should pose the question to Motorola and then Apple to see if they agree if he is entitled to a license of the software. Only then would it be legal for him to obtain the media. > > In any case, for the post part, G is right - go with Mac OS 9 (and download > > the 9.1 updater, 9.0.4 was unstable for me) - Mac OS 7.6.1 on the StarMax CD > > is just a little bit outdated now :) The only issue to bear in mind is the > > CD-ROM driver - you may need a copy of the 7.6.1 version to run under 9. I also agree, forget the original CD and just buy a copy of OS9. I never had the original OS with my SM and I bought myself a copy of OS9, even though the person who sold me the SM already had it installed ... I can only assume he kept the OS9 media for himself making it illegal for me to have it installed on my machine. BTW ... I didn't need any special CD-ROM drivers for my SM when I re-installed OS 9.
