Well, at least we have something to talk about ;-) (versus the unlikeliness of OS X). I'm not sure he deserves the OS, let alone a CD, but ok. I think software is handled differently than hardware and it's an interesting distinction, especially if you widen the discussion to things like music (MP3s on Napster for example). The computer needs an OS but it can operate with something other than Apple's software. However, The Leader has seen fit to post OS 7 on his web site for free download. That's great, there ya go. In the Apple's eye, it can't be very valuable. OS 7.6 was a great system, and can still do a lot for a stock StarMax. But the distinction is there, I just bought a B&W G3 on eBay, it had a wiped System Folder as is the rules. So I had to buy an OS for it but that doesn't make it any less the machine, I could put my own hard drive in it and go. It's supposed to be an "intellectual property" licensing thing, like a piece of art, but isn't the machine itself? Yikes! (pun) sounds like lawyers at the door. My personal beef was being asked to supply a product for free when I had to pay for it. I didn't know you could get it at Apple and I'm sorry I jumped to conclusions. George
