OK, now I'm looking for another answer (not sure if it's classic or not). How in the ^&%$ do I get to the battery in my minitower?
I've seen the pictures here: http://geekysheep.tripod.com/starmax/id2.html
But, I can't figure out how to get to it.
Daniel
As I recall:
After removing the tower cover, you should be able to slide the mobo chassis towards the rear of tower just enough to to grab the battery without disconnecting any other cables/wires. (VERY tight quarters and mobo doesn't slide back much) The battery is mounted on velcro but once you get it loose it has long leads (red/black) plugged into mobo via small 2 pin connector, so be careful that you note the polarity. A new replacement should come with the wire/connector/velcro.
When I was inside my 3000 a while back (maybe 4 yrs ago), I didn't replace it but moved it to a spot on the drive chassis where it was easier to access (added a square of velcro to accomodate) and didn't interfere with any future upgrading.
Later, I made up a battery pack of 3 AA cells (series) and replaced the orig battery by splicing in the orig leads/connector. Located the pack on the inside bottom of the tower.
