Piece of Cake
1) Get a piece of 8x11 paper and a pencil.
2) Lay the comp. on it's side.
3) Keep you self touching metal of comp.
4) Draw a square or rectang on the paper.
5) Study the MB and as you remove connectors
note their location on MB on your sketch.
Also note the color of at least one wire on the end
of each connector.
All connectors are keyed and will only insert one way.
Look closely and you will see each connector is
identified and on the MB.
Pull ribbon cables from MB and lay them out of
your way as much as poss.
I use long nose pliers to gently rock and pull the
power connectors that are on one corner of MB.
Also when pulling pwr. connector from any drive.
The small connectors on the front of MB need to
be removed. Speaker, led, reset switch etc.
Squeez type, you may be able to use thumb and finger.
As you remove connectors gently coax the MB
back until you have adequate access to the Batt.
Look for restrictions.
Some have gained access by removing floppy drive.
I got a batt. holder and three AA batts from Radio
Shack. Velco-ed the holder to bottom of case,
extended batt. wire.
The original batts. in StarMax are alkaline non
rechargeable Ray O Vac 840/841 4.5 volt.
