Hi M. I see your point, but I would not term it an "initial power burst." It is 
more like they can maintain a small charge, and then lose it rapidly under load.

What do you mean, "except Accu?" I didn't think there is anything special about 
that brand name. 

All NiCd or NiMH rechargeables when nearly depleted will maintain a small 
charge and then lose it rapidly under load, at least until they are recharged.
