Hmmm. How did you kill gdm? By removing the symlink from rc2.d by any
chance? If so, do you have any issues with administrative tasks
executed when su'd from a regular login? ie. Trying to run Storm
Package Manager? I had problems when launching X with startx (as
discussed last month). If this is the case, what did you have to do to
get around these problems?
