This is an update of the Snelling/University CVS Pharmacy building design issue. It was put together by Russ Stark of University United: Last week, the zoning committee of the Planning Commission approved a revised CVS site plan that moved the building 3 feet north to allow for wider sidewalk and bus shelter on University, and added windows to the University Avenue facade. The windows from 3 feet to 6 feet from the ground are shown as "spandrel" (opaque) glass, and above 6 feet they are transparent glass. The matter will be in front of the full Planning Commission Friday. We are still insisting on transparent windows at eye-level and an entrance on the University Avenue side of the building, and still have a preference for a mixed-use, multi-story development. If the Planning Commission approves as is, it can be appealed to the City Council. In addition, the City Council will have to approve the vacation of an alley as part of the deal, which requires 5 of 7 votes.
