I hope you all went to the link to the story as John left out a whole host of interesting information. things like Kathy Lantry and Pat Harris also bought tickets throught what is called the sepcial council offer. Dan Bostrom went without having a ticket. The tickets were the property of the NHL, not the Minnesota Wild meaning the Wild received no revenue from the ticket sales.
Well, Bostrom has a All Access Pass as the article states, "that he holds as a member of the St. Paul RiverCentre Authority." Lantry and Harris are season ticket holders, so they had access even with out the letter. Though the article does say they got them through the special offer.
As for the letter "Schultz countered that the ticket offer came to Kelly and the council on letters from the Wild, not the NHL."
As stated in the article, the NHL all-star game is a major event with interest world wide. Wouldn't it make sense to want the mayor of the city the host team calls home in attendence?
I would guess that depends on if they follow the law or not. Shultz seems to think they didn't.
As for the public not being able to get tickets, I guess that is the official word but unofficially, there were plenty available, at face value, on the street
Then maybe they should have went out and got them on the street from the scalpers like the rest of us.
